The Browser companies have decided to shorten time life of SSL certificates

Starting Sept 1, 2020, Apple (Safari), Google (Chrome), Mozilla (Firefox) will report errors for SSL certificates issued longer the 398 days (13 months). Which means all website manager using SSL certificates will have to renew them on a yearly basis instead of the current 2 year cycle.
Why do websites that do not have logins or selling things like eCommerce website use SSL? Answer – for better SEO ranking, Google has said that they will be giving websites an SEO boost if they use SSL certificates. Their thinking is that companies with SSL’s are have had their ownership verified and thus are more trustworthy than similar websites that don’t have SSL’s.
